Top Ten Most Popular Sports of Summer Olympics

The summer Olympic Games is one of the actions in the sporting calendar and is something that all sports fans look forward to when it comes around. There are diverse types of games played in summer; here are the top ten lists of sports of summer Olympics 2012:

1. Archery:
Archery had its first appearance at the 1900 Summer Olympics and has been played in 14 Olympiads. Eighty three dissimilar nations have emerged in the Olympic archery competitions, with France come into view the most often at 11 times.

2. Athletics:
Athletics has been contested at every Olympics since the birth of the modern Olympic movement at the1896 Summer Olympics. The athletics program traces its first roots to proceedings used in the ancient Greek Olympics.

3. Badminton:
Badminton had its entrance at the 1992 Summer Olympics and has been contested in 5 Olympiads. 50 unusual nations have emerged in the Olympic badminton competitions, with 19 emerge all 5 times.

4. Basketball

7. Cycling:
Cycling has been contested at every Summer Olympic Games since the birth of the current Olympic movement at the 1896 Summer Olympics.

8. Diving:
Diving was first introduced in the official programme of the summer at the 1904 Games of St. Louisand. This discipline of Aquatics, along with swimming, synchronized swimming and water polo, is regulated and supervised by the International Swimming Federation the international federation (IF) for aquatic sports.

9. Equestrian:
Equestrianism made its Summer Olympics entrance at the1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. It moved out until 1912, but has emerged at every Summer Olympic Games since. The current Olympic equestrian order is Dressage, Eventing, and Jumping.

10. Field Hockey:
Field hockey was initiate at the Summer Olympic Games as a men’s competition at the 1908 Games in London, with six teams, including four from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
